Annual Hay Ride on the Trail

Funded the first year 1979-1980 FY.  The Center is funded by the Town of Ashland City, Greater Nashville Regional Council, Area Agency on Aging and Disability, United Way and donations.

Special Announcement

The Senior Center at Ashland City re-opened in September of 2005 with twice the space for you to exercise, dance, play cards, ping-pong, play bridge, rook, gin rummy, watch a big screen TV, read, listen to music or just wile away the hours in a newly decorated home for those of us who have retired and want to be active instead of being a coach potato.  Health screenings are available free of charge.  The monthly covered dish meal is scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month.  Immediately after the covered dish meal, the monthly birthday party is held with a  large birthday cake donated by H.G. Hills, ice cream and a free gift that most everyone can use.

We have a great number of folks asking to use the facility, however the center's board voted unanimously to allow senior organizations only to use the building.  The calendar of activities is steadily growing.  Thanks to the expertise of June and Don Nicholson, Sammie Dozier, R.B. and Patricia Hester and last but not least Joann Proctor the Friday night dances are well accepted among seniors from Cheatham County, plus many surrounding counties.  We've grown accustomed to have Mrs. Minnie Balthrop and Mr. Ralph Covington who both are near 90 years young dance the evening away and make lots of us look pitiful.  It is an inspiration when these two arrive for an evening of dancing.

RSVP

Retired & Senior Volunteer Program

RSVP is housed within the senior center. A senior volunteer is matched with one child who needs a special someone:  an adult to look up to and have fun with.  Spend just one hour per week with that child during the school day and make a difference in his/her life.  Maybe you could review the week's spelling words, help with math, or play a game.  For kids, this one-hour visit is the highlight of their week.

Receive orientation, on-going support from RSVP staff, and mileage reimbursement if desired.
