Child Safety Seat Checkpoint Program
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children ages 2 to 14, due in large part to the nonuse or improper use of child seats and seat belts. Working with parents and our partners our goal is to ensure every child is properly secured and safe every trip, every time.
The process involves inspection and installation of the child safety seat; it takes approximately 30 minutes and is free of charge. Parents also receive instruction in properly securing the child in the safety seat. Parents who are expecting a child are urged to have the child safety seat installed four to six weeks prior to the date of delivery. For questions regarding child safety seats, call the police department during business hours (615-792-5618).
